The City of New Haven’s Transportation, Traffic, & Parking Department has received a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant to design and implement a Quick-Build safety project along the segment of Goffe Street between Crescent Street and Webster Street/Sperry Street. The project will pilot temporary pedestrian, bicycle, and traffic-calming improvements to advance the City’s Safe Routes for All and broader transportation goals. Funded through the SS4A program, the Quick-Build installation is expected to remain in place for a minimum of one year and will connect to related Quick-Build work at Crescent Street, Winthrop Avenue, and Norton Parkway along Goffe Terrace.

Join the project team on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Dr. Reginald Mayo Early Childhood School (185 Goffe Street, New Haven, CT 06511) to share ideas on what the pilot project could test and where along the corridor. The workshop will invite feedback on bicycle and pedestrian improvements, public space enhancements, and traffic-calming elements, as well as the materials that could be used as part of a quick-build pilot. The goal is to make Goffe Street safer and more comfortable for all modes of travel.

Project updates and additional information will be available on the Safe Routes for All New Haven project page at https://saferoutesforall.org.
