New Haven Residents have a variety of waste drop-off services available for their use at the Transfer Station. Drop-off services are available Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am -12:00 pm at 260 Middletown Ave. Please review our vehicle guidelines for residential drop-off. Please note: Private and Commercial Haulers MUST go to the Scale House and cannot drop off items at Residential Services.
New procedure for accessing the Residential Waste Drop Area
- New Haven residents no longer need coupons to access the Residential Drop Off Area. Instead, present your ID (New Haven address required) when you arrive, and the attendant will scan your ID.
- If you do not have an ID with a New Haven address, please visit Vital Statistics at 165 Church St, 1st Floor, Suite 154 to obtain an Elm City Resident Card. Click here for additional information.
- If needed college students can visit the office (424 Chapel St, Suite 170) with their student ID to obtain a courtesy pass to access the residential waste drop off area.
Construction Debris
Construction debris such as wood, roof shingles, drywall, masonry, plumbing fixtures, and fencing can be dropped off at the Transfer Station for a fee. Items must be weighed on the scale at the Transfer Station which is open Monday - Saturday 9:00 am-12:00 pm
Hazardous Waste
Household hazardous waste is not accepted at 260 Middletown Ave. It must be taken to Haz-waste central located at the Regional Water Authority, 90 Sargent Drive. Haz-waste is open Saturday mornings from May through October, excluding holiday weekends. For more information 203-401-2712
