A one‐time assistance to individuals and families in need of security deposit assistance to move to permanent sustainable housing and/or utility arrearage to ensure a safe and healthy living conditions. Housing Administration and Development prioritizes assistance for individuals and families with the largest need and who can sustainably remain in permanent housing.

Security Deposit the Tenant cannot be living in apartment prior to applying, qualifying and unit inspection.  Utility Arrearage the arrearage cannot be for services of non-payment prior to March 3, 2021.

Application

• Applications will be processed under the new program parameters, if your application was not received, complete and qualified by October 8, 2025
• Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to attain long‐term self‐sufficiency.  Applicants must be current residents of the City of New Haven and must occupy a residential unit within the city at the time of application submission. 
•  Security Deposit Grant of up to $2,500 (2-month security no 1st month rent) and/or Utility Arrearage Payment (Gas, UI, Water) of up to $2,500.
