This is professional and technical work in the field of Civil Engineering in a municipal environment. The work consists of performing a variety of engineering and technical tasks to produce supporting designs and provide inspection services on projects that are developed within the Engineering Department or as assigned. This individual will be involved with all aspects of the city’s infrastructure including; Storm Water Facilities, Sidewalks, Roads, Bridges, Buildings, and Environmental Permitting and Flood Control. Work shall be assigned by the City Engineer or other Senior Engineers. Work will be generally supervised and evaluated as it supports the infrastructure goals of the city.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a BS degree in Civil Engineering and 1-2 years of experience in a related Civil Engineering field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities as stated in the job description, including but not limited to: Working knowledge of ACAD and other technical tools used to create designs, specifications, reports and scheduling. Knowledge of basic civil engineering practices including testing of materials and inspection criteria. Ability to perform a variety of civil engineering related calculations and studies as it relates to issues involving infrastructure problems. Ability to read plans and specifications and to properly interpret the requirements of the same.

SALARY: $54,158-$69,674 annualized
LOCAL 3144, RANGE 8
This is a “Special Funds” position. As such, continued employment is contingent upon availability of future funding.
This position is included in a collective bargaining agreement with Local 3144, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
