Online Filing of 2021 Personal Property Declarations

The deadline to file the 2021 Personal Property Declaration was Monday, November 1, 2021. Pursuant to CGS 12-42, a request for extension must have been made on or before Monday, November 1, 2021. Any 2021 Personal Property Declaration filed after Monday, November 1, 2021 will be subject to a 25% penalty assessment in accordance with CGS 12-41(e).

This year the Department of Assessment is offering existing business personal property accounts the option of submitting their 2021 Personal Property Declaration online.

A onetime access code is required to file the personal property declaration online. This code is contained in the letter that was mailed out. If you do not have the code, you cannot file the personal property declaration online. Due to the confidential nature of personal property declarations, the Department of Assessment cannot provide the access code if you did not receive or lost the letter. If this is the case, you will be required to file a physical declaration.

Once you register online, you will log in using just your email and password; the system will automatically remember your account number. After you first log in you will be asked to verify the existing account information and will then be able to update your record for the 2020 filing period. When you sign and submit the declaration electronically you will get a confirmation email that the declaration has been received. You will also be able to download and print the forms as submitted. Please carefully read the information on each page before you agree to the terms of the final submission.
