March 26-28, 2026 hosted by the Yale Study Group on Native America and the NYU-Yale American Indian Sovereignty Project

March 26
Keynote by award-winning filmmakers Ken Burns and David Schmidt in conversation with Professor of Law Maggie Blackhawk (NYU) and Professor of History Colin Calloway (Dartmouth). 

Location: Yale University Art Gallery, 1111 Chapel Street (free and open to all by registration)
Time: 4:30–6:00 PM

March 27-28
Panels and special sessions at Luce Hall. Subjects of potential discussion include land dispossession, questions of citizenship, the U.S. Constitution and American colonialism, the Revolution and Indigenous peoples in American culture, and the legacies of Indigenous enslavement. Panels will be open to the public with registration.

March 28
The conference will conclude with a plenary screening of Up and Down the River: A Mohegan History Film for America at 250, followed by a conversation between Film Director Madeline Sayet, Regan (Chairwoman, Mohegan Tribal Council of Elders), and Melissa Tantaquidgeon Zobel (Vice-Chair, Mohegan Tribal Council of Elders)
